Habits is an Android app that I wrote to help me work towards my goals by turning them in to habits. The only way to get better something is to work at it, and I’d often find weeks go by without working on the things I wanted to get better at. A website called Joe’s Goals helped me track my goals each day and showed me when I was letting things slip.
Time chunking tasks was another great help which eliminated distractions for me. The Pomodoro Technique was the best time chunking method I found.
I wanted to write an Android app to help me manage my habits which combined Joe’s Goals, the Pomodoro Technique with the simplicity of Todo.txt, my favourite To Do list program. I’ve been using it for a while now and decided to release it on to the Android Market for others to try.
I also wanted to keep it as simple as possible. Many similar apps I’ve tried have so many settings and features they distract you from what you’re trying to do and it starts to feel like work. I’ve also resisted putting reminders and alarms in because if you need to be reminded to do something, then it’s not a habit. Another thing I’m unsure about is adding reports/statistics to it. They’re definitely nice to have but as far as developing habits I’ve found the only thing that really matters is the last 7 days, if you haven’t done anything for a week then you know you need to get back to work.
There are two versions of the app, the paid version and a free version which is ad supported:

Can you please make the apk of your free version available on your website as well? I have an android device which does not have access to the Android Market. Thanks.
Hello! I really like your app. It’s easy to use and very functional. May I ask you to add a future for me? I like to define a number of repeated events which must passed before it changes colour for each task. For example I like to define an event “Brush teeth” which should be executed three times a day. After first time executed its colour should change from red to yelow. After second time executed colour should stay yellow. And after the third time executed it should change to green. It would really be nice if you could implement this. I could really organize all my tasks then. Thank you, best Simon
I really like Habits for android, particularly the clean interface and the “does one thing well” approach with no mess getting in the way. That said, I would vote (and pay) for a couple of extras: optional alarms, export diary to card (csv format) and perhaps a simple block graph. These need not spoil the pure interface and I, for one, would be grateful. Thanks for making such a good app.
